Rachel Grenon is a multidisciplinary artist.
She studied painting at Bishop’s University in Québec with Seymour Segal and Marie-Claude Bouthillier.
Because Rachel is also a ceramist, her paintings reflect what she sees in her vitrified porcelain, which keeps her moving into new ideas for glaze effects. As a painter, she is free from the technicality of the ceramic process. When she grabs her paintbrushes it’s to play freely.
In the summer of 2020 Rachel spent three months focusing on her painting. She worked at the Art Alchemy artists’ studio in Courtenay, B.C.
Her work in clay as well as her paintings are all about movement, as the large brushstrokes on the canvas recall the gesture of the glazes on her platters.
