Workshop life
My workspace has changed over the past 25 years: I worked in a basement with a ceiling barely higher than me, in a simply furnished bedroom and in a basement with a view of the sky. For the past two years, I’ve been working in a large studio at Art lab 341, which also houses six other artists’ studios.
I love this shared space where the creative vibe is uplifting.
Located in Knowlton, in the Eastern Townships, my studio is in the heart of a village full of artists and artisans. There’s a lovely bakery, the Canards du Lac-Brome boutique, an Italian grocery and a general store with lots of local products—all nice to visit for lunch breaks.
I often work with my assistant Claire who helps me stay focused on production so I don’t get distracted.
There is a recipe for ceramics: it takes clay, two pairs of hands, a nice conversation and lots of laughter.
